Spring is in the Air

Spring was a very long time in coming this year, but now that it has literally "broken out", there is new life wherever you look. We are surrounded by blossoming trees, green parks, singing birds, and smiling people. It's no surprise, then, that many of us want to carry this positive energy over into our professional lives. The time is right to revitalise old projects, implement long-avoided changes, and remember forgotten plans...

I invite you today to take a look at my Spring Self-Review Questionnaire. This quick and simple review will ensure that you don't lose sight of your personal goals this spring. By investing 15-20 minutes now, you can immediately pinpoint the areas where you should be focusing your energy. Remember that this questionnaire is all about your goals and plans; it highlights the issues that are pressing and relevant for you. Click here to print the questionnaire: http://www.an-edge-for-you.com/downloads/questionnaire.doc.

For detailed instructions, visit http://www.an-edge-for-you.com/downloads/instructions.doc

A word of warning: This is not the type of questionnaire in which you only need to tick a few boxes and count symbols or points. Here, noone will tell you after 3 minutes what type of person you really are. Instead, this questionnaire requires careful reflection and personal input on your side. At the same time, it offers you insights that will put words to ideas and intuitions that may have nagged at you for some time. I use this questionnaire with my coaching clients, and am pleased to share it with you here free of charge. In return, I would very much appreciate some feedback on your findings!

Take your results seriously - If you are dissatisfied with any part of your professional or personal life, and this situation continues for some time, this will inevitably reduce on your overall energy level. Are you feeling overwhelmed by day-to-day dealings in spite of your best intentions? Or not taking enough time for your personal goals? These are reasons enough to take a closer look at what you can do for yourself – Remember that if you don't do this, nobody else will. If you decide to do something for yourself, you have two options:

  • a "committed experiment on yourself“ paved with good intentions as well as exhausting ups and downs; or
  • focused work with a professional who ensures you achieve the best possible results with the least investment.

Together we can determine where you can cut corners, and when this isn't an option. When you have little time to spare, you know the importance of making the most of every moment. It's worth investing a few hours now in your own future.

Whatever you decide, I wish you many "Eureka!" insights this spring, and every success in your personal and professional projects. I particularly hope you can stay tuned to your larger goals in your everyday routine!

Have a beautiful spring,

Annette

Spring Q&A

Spring Q&A

Have you ever wondered ….

1)… why goal-oriented people opt to work with a coach?

Take a look at this fresh feedback from my clients:

"It's easier to stay focused when you have someone to report your successes to"

"It's motivating to have someone who is truly on your side and wants you to succeed"

"When you achieve milestones, you're motivated to go on and reach for higher goals that
are still attainable"

"[Coaching] delivers the maximum number of ideas which can be used immediately and
which work in practice…"

"[Coaching] provides new perspectives and angles on familiar situations, and it opens up
completely new options"

"[You reflect continually on changes and developments, and new and better questions
come up"

2) … how long the coaching relationship usually lasts?

Contrary to popular belief, management coaching is not a long-term or ongoing commitment. About 35% of my clients see me for between 3-5 sessions, and I work with another 30% for only 6-8 sessions. It is only a select group of my clients who consult with me over a longer period - These are top performers who often take long gaps between sessions so they can handle a wide range of roles and concerns. Our work together covers constantly evolving issues, major challenges, and regularly renewed goals.

Advance Notice

*Set out on a Leadership Journey

In February 2007, a new open group of executives will take part in the "Leadership Journey"- a 6 1/2 day workshop for top managers held at a castle 50 kilometres from Prague.

A breakthrough concept now in its fourth year, the Leadership Journey gathers participants from diverse backgrounds and industries to sharpen their management edge.

In this unique setting, participants make maximum use of the expertise and experience of their peers, the feedback of an experienced coach, and guided self-reflection. Confidential exchange allows participants to troubleshoot their personal goals and current change projects; pinpoint their strengths and blindspots; and apply systemic management and communication theory to their everyday contexts.

This programme forms a bridge for participants wishing to join the high-impact “Managing for Results” peer coaching workshops (see below)

The Leadership Journey is ideal for:

  • Senior managers and executives who already have practical management experience but wish to update their skills to address changing and more complicated work settings
  • Top players looking for skilled and insightful sparring partners to help them find new management tools and achieve better results with less strain
  • Executives who want to explore their role and alignment within their organisation, and the impact of their own behaviour on team responses

Discover the value of peer feedback as a tool for generating more effective personal changes and better management benchmarking strategies. Leadership Journey participants have the chance to analyse the mechanics of organisational change while reflecting on the ways their behaviour creates – and removes – roadblocks for other people. Inspired by a challenging but safe environment far removed from company pressures, they can develop powerful new patterns that will achieve better long-term results with less strain.

Maximum of 7 participants. Qualify for a discount by pre-registering:

Invoice paid by 31.10.2006 20% early-bird discount

Invoice paid by 31.12.2006 10% discount

No cancellation fee applies until December 31, 2006.

The offer includes an individual preliminary interview of 2-3 hours in either Frankfurt, Hamburg, or Prague, as well as one 2.5 day and two 2-day seminars (with full board and coffee-breaks). The offer excludes travel to the destination. Wherever possible, the interview should be scheduled 4-8 weeks prior to the start date.

Full details about the Leadership Journey will be provided in our summer newsletter. If you would like to learn more about the long-term benefits experienced by participants in past journeys, please feel free to contact me. Attendees of the first journey held in February 2003 – including several CEOs, board members and a purchasing director - are still enjoying the fruits of their exchange; they continue to meet twice yearly to debate strategies and implementation plans. References and insights are available on request.

* The Next Level: Managing for Results Peer Coaching Workshops

From Spring 2007, these high-level workshops will cater to a small circle of top executives and entrepreneurs who wish to run their plans and strategic decisions by peers from a wide range of businesses. Participants include: Leading managers who enjoy working in a group setting and believe they see their best results under the influence of healthy peer pressure.

If you do not wish to receive this newsletter four times a year, please send a simple mail message to info@an-edge-for-you.com stating that. Thank you.
